Dasey sketch-
I’ve been sucked back into an old fandom that I was a part of a long time ago: Life with Derek.  I wanted to sketch the two main characters for fun (not 100% happy with it, trying to get it to look like them was hard).
This show was a guilty pleasure for me when it aired. I didn’t like a lot of non-animated shows at the time, but I fell in love with this one. The biggest problem was that I shipped the main characters, but the show was actually about these two teens becoming step-siblings and being forced to live with each other. There was a very large Dasey following (still is), and I felt that the constant reminders written in (that they were step-siblings) was to reinforce the fact that the ship wasn’t going to happen.
However, there were too many moments like this:

(end of the series and the movie would have them dancing together often )

(and these kinds of looks that HAPPENED ALL OF THE TIME)
I have a brother, and we have a close relationship, but if we looked at each other like that it would be really gross. *shudder*
The fact that they were step-siblings didn’t bother me, because they aren’t related by blood, and they didn’t grow up together (if they had been younger when the families merged I probably wouldn’t have ended up shipping them).  However, they were teens when they met, and it didn’t help that the two actors had really good chemistry together, so the ship just sailed itself.
(It also didn’t help that some of my favourite manga I was reading at the time ended up having step-siblings that hooked up [Marmalade Boy and Kare Kano, I’m looking at you].)
So, in conclusion, I ship it and nothing will stop me.
